Power Apps and Forculus
Microsoft's Power Platform inventory gives admins one view of the agents, apps and flows built on Power Platform, now including code apps and vibe apps. Each person who runs a code app needs a Power Apps Premium licence or another paid option. Forculus hosts apps built anywhere, in Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, keeps each one behind sign-in, and gives IT one list of all of them, with viewers free.
Updated
What follows about Power Apps comes from Microsoft's own pages, read on 22 October 2026 and listed at the end.
What Power Platform offers
- The inventory covers "all agents, apps, and flows built on Power Platform": canvas, model-driven, code, vibe and managed apps, Copilot Studio agents and Power Automate flows. Changes appear within 15 minutes, and an admin can block a published agent or canvas app from there.
- Code apps let a developer build a web app in an editor such as Visual Studio Code, with React, Vue or another framework, and run it in Power Platform. They sign people in with Microsoft Entra ID and follow the organization's sharing limits, Conditional Access and data loss policies.
- End users of a code app need a Power Apps Premium licence, pay-as-you-go, an App Pass, or auto-claim of a premium licence.
- Power Apps Premium is $20 a user a month, paid yearly, or $12 with a minimum of 2,000 licences.
- Microsoft lists limits for code apps: their compiled files are served from a publicly reachable endpoint that doesn't support IP restrictions, and they don't support Power Platform's Git integration.
Side by side, for an internal app
| What | Power Apps | Forculus |
|---|---|---|
| Which apps IT sees in one list | The ones built on Power Platform | Every app deployed to the workspace, whichever agent or person wrote it |
| What a viewer costs | A Power Apps Premium licence, pay-as-you-go or an App Pass, for code apps | Nothing. Plans are priced per workspace, and viewers don't count |
| Who can sign in | People in your Microsoft Entra ID tenant, and guests through Azure B2B | Anyone you share with by email, everyone at your domain, or a group. With a code by email, a passkey, Google or Microsoft |
| What runs | Canvas, model-driven, code and vibe apps on Power Platform | Workers, static sites, and containers for Python, Go, Rust or Node servers |
| Keys for other services | Power Platform connectors | Kept by us and added to each request on the way out, so the code never holds them |
When Power Apps is the better fit
When your company already licenses Power Apps for the people who will use the app, the data is in Dataverse or behind Power Platform connectors, and IT runs everything from the Power Platform admin center.
When Forculus is the better fit
When staff build with Claude Code, Codex or Cursor and want to ship what the agent wrote without moving it onto Power Platform, and when the people who use the apps shouldn't each need a licence. You can still sign in with Microsoft, and on Enterprise your own identity provider signs people in, Microsoft Entra ID included.
Questions
Does the Power Platform inventory include apps built in Claude Code?
Only if they were brought onto Power Platform, for example as a code app. An app hosted anywhere else isn't built on Power Platform, so it isn't in that inventory.
Do people need a licence to use a Forculus app?
No. Anyone you share an app with signs in and uses it as a viewer at no cost. Plans are priced per workspace.
Can our people sign in with Microsoft?
Yes, on every plan. Company single sign-on through Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace or another SAML or OpenID Connect provider is an Enterprise feature, included on Business for early customers for a limited time.
